   As a whole I believe it's getting worse.  We've cause too much irreversible damage to our Earth, hence global warming.  We teach future generations through media to be money-hungry, sex-crazed, selfish beings.  That's just to start, there's alot more to say but basically we've set ourselves up for disaster for future generations.

   That is a general question, but here's my take. In terms of technology, the world is obviously getting better and better. But in terms of human morality, I think that there is a general and global deterioration as one significant result of technology. It looks like the computer and the internet is invading humanity. Of course the computer and the internet are basically intended for progress and speed, but many if not most people with ulterior motives and are basically evil within them had found the internet as their allies to further their dark motives. Even some of the supposedly good people with pure intentions who benefit the usefulness of the net are sometimes corrupted and influenced by the evil ones.
   Humanity now, instead of being the "crown of creation" is becoming the curse to the natural beauty of creation. Natural calamities as well as man-made disasters are becoming frequent and in more intensified and expanded damages, and technology is a great contributor to these side effects that are happening in our world.

   It depends on where they place their attention. If they look at beauty, it increases. If they look at the negatives, that increases. Everybody lives in a world of their own creation based upon what they are paying attention to. In a bad environment one can be detached and totally blissful. In a beautiful environment one may be angry, miserable, hateful or lonely. It depends on the thoughts they are thinking and their perception and interpretations.

   Technology has improved our lives in many ways. People as a whole are becoming busier and each generation of children as a whole get less of their parent's time. Children of our time grew up with tv as baby sitters, our children grew up with tv & dvds as babysitters and now children have their parents iphones, game systems, tvs and movies as babysitters. Fast food has become the norm over home cooked ones. Lunches are more often prepackaged snacks cheese, crackers and round sections of lunch meat and throw in box of raisins for fruit than not. Most children don't know what a giddyup knee ride is any more. Fewer children are getting read to as bedtime ritual. Plus children are growing up with more permissiveness and less accountability.
   So as technology improves and our environment and our natural resources diminish I look at the children in my classroom and the changes in their lives,

   It depends on individual who can view it as better or worse.
   
   There are people who are working hard to make this world a better place. While there are others who just cannot be bother but just making profits out of the world resources.
   
   I do believe there is an equal balance of people who are working towards a better world while some still don't care much of this world.
   
   It is how we teach our next younger generation in view of this world so that they can be the ones changing it better in future. Otherwise it will just lead to destruction with the Ozone and other disasters seem to be coming year after year.

   Worse, but in getting worse it will get better.
   
   Scripture states that the time will (has) come when mankind will worship the creation, rather than the Creator, and turn away from goodness to wickedness, the polarity will be reversed on morality, which has happened.
   
   That's the bad news.
   
   But God knew what would happen when mankind was allowed to increase their knowledge exponentially, which we have (and sitting here answering this question is a small part of that) and that when we did 'gain' the power of self determination, we would make the wrong choices.
   
   So as any caring parent would, He has prepared for the time when our humanity starts to destroy His Creation, and will return to sort out the mess we have created with our self will.
   
   Scripture tells us that when we see ALL the signs (together) which we are seeing, His return to take control is near.
   
   So despite our iniquity and destructive ability, God will save the situation.
   
   That's the good news.
   
   But in salvaging the good parts of humanity, the bad parts will be destroyed, so that's the bad news.
   
   Time to assess where WE stand in the equation.

    In my opinion, the world is no worse, and no better, than it has always been.
    
    Ever since the "beginning of time," the world has been both a wonderful place and a horrible place, and it will be those ways until the "end of time."
    
    It's the same old story -- a fight for love and glory, a quest to do or die, and the best of times and the worst of times.

    It depends on what we see and perceive. The world was what it was before only the surroundings and the people changed. Live your life to the fullest, have no regrets you'll find the world getting better or sober yourself, blame yourself for everything and the world's gonna be a hell for you.
    So it's just what we want the world to be.

    I think the world (or people) are basically the same, the difference today is that basically we have more information and because of that we are more aware of more evil in the world, and so it may seem it is getting worse.

    I guess it depends on the circumstances of your life and where you are in the world. People feel the world is getting better when things are okay in their lives, they feel the end is near when faced by daunting trials or catastrophic events. I personally do not think the world is getting better. In many ways we could be improving but as human beings left to ourselves, the trend of things tells me we are headed for disaster and only a being greater and wiser than ourselves will save us.

    Well, both, of course.  The world has improved incredibly when it comes to technology, medicine, and human comfort in general.  But the morality of the world is going to Hell in a Handbasket. We have gotten so smart that in our prideful hubris we worship the Creature rather than the Creator.

    I think times come and go...fads come and go...and seasons come and go.
    
    I think we are in a cyclical downward spiral, at the moment, and are experiencing a season of sin. Will it correct itself? I do not know, but the world has seen these times before.
    
    I fear that the development of technology will eventually have a devastating effect on humanity as a whole. Sure, there are fun little gadgets that technological advancements have brought forth, but there will continue to be rampant unemployment as more and more companies rely upon automation and technology to do the work humans used to. Good for a few, but bad for the whole.
    
    Technology has also made it possible for a small cabal of wealthy elitists to govern the world through the touch of a button. Now, a man in a computer room can launch a "Predator" drone air-craft that kills people 10,000 miles away by just using a joy-stick and computer screen. These poor people didn't even see it coming and they will never see their assailant's face.
    
    The police also have the means to look through the walls of your home from the street corner and thus watch what is going on inside. They have satelites that can see the can of soda pop you are drinking and the list goes on and on.
    
    The abuses of technology are endless and I believe it will only be getting worse unless it crashes. At the end of the day, technology allows a small number of people to do the things that many people used to do, like making a living and feeding their families. Through technology, many humans are now becoming obsolete. This fact has also given rise to rumors of population control measures whereby the social elite want to dispose of 90% of the earth's population, and technology is leading the way and making it possible.
    
    Then we must ask ourselves if abortion, gay marriage, population control, the perversity of diversity, apostacy, perpetual war, rampant greed, increasing unemployment, pornography, sky-rocketing divorce rates, fatherless homes, latch-key kids, militant feminism and a whole list of other crimes against humanity are in the world's best interest. If one thinks this is so, then perhaps they see the world as getting "better", but if one interprets these things as "sinister", "sinful" or "evil", then to them, the world is getting worse.
    
    Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and, I, for one, am seeing less and less beauty in the world.

    I do not know why we human beings do not seem to know how to remove ourselves from the downward spiral, or the never-ending cycle. We do repeat life over and over again. Yes, the world is getting wiser with all of the technology booming fast, but it is also getting weaker. Technology improves daily life, it appears, but it comes with a high price. Look what the Internet, that we cannot do without, is doing to the family. There are many bad and good things for everyone. As much as we need cars and planes, as much time as they save us in comparison to horses and buggies, they have claimed the lives of hundreds of millions. Guns kill hundreds of thousands a year. Many more technologies do the same, but we cannot do without them. Technology has spoiled us, and we die for it. Yes, the world is getting weaker and more knowledgeable.

    Overall, the world is getting better. The child mortality rate is declining. The number of wars and percentage of the population killed in them is going down. The average life expectancy is up. The standard of living is rising world wide; grinding poverty was the norm for most of human history, and now only includes the 20% of the world living on a dollar a day. More goods and services are available now than ever before. Educational levels and literacy are improving world wide.
    It's not as good as it could be, but we are getting much better.

       I agree that we have seen some drastic improvements since the Middle Ages and Industrial Revolution, but do you think we have already reached our peak and are now making our way down the other side?
